My joint checking account (with my elderly mother) and my personal savings account were debited by more than $1,560 in response to a flawed request from a child support enforcement agency. That request did not list my bank account numbers.
I notified BMO Harris of this error and further advised it that I was not in violation of any current support order. Harris held onto my money, contacted the agency, provided it with the correct account numbers in violation of relavant privacy and banking laws, and then claimed it couldn't release the funds because the paperwork was now correct. This still ignired the fact that the agency itself was in error.
I contacted the support agency, filed the necessary paperwork for a hearing, participated in the hearing and prevailed at same.
The support agency itself notified BMO Harris to return the funds and the bank still has not done so. I have been left with no money of my own whatsoever for nearly a month and Harris still refuses to return my money.
